Prevention Works

ECHO Project

In June 2015, DAODAS received a five-year “Partnership for Success” grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The grant is funding a new project – Empowering Communities for Healthy Outcomes (ECHO) – that specifically addresses prescription drug abuse/misuse among ages 12 to 25 and impaired driving. The resulting increase in capacity, however, will benefit communities’ ability to address a wide range of local concerns.

ECHO is funding nine high-need counties to reduce their rates of prescription drug abuse/misuse and impaired driving:

Non-Medical Use/Abuse of Prescription Drugs (Ages 12-25)

  • Berkeley Country
  • Darlington County
  • Dorchester County
  • Greenville Country

Impaired Driving

  • Barnwell County
  • Chester County
  • Jasper County
  • Marlboro County
  • Orangeburg County
