Infectious Disease Prevention Services

Recognizing the increased health risks for tuberculosis (TB), HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and other infectious diseases among individuals who use alcohol and other drugs, DAODAS collaborates extensively with the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) for a variety of services to address these problems. Specifically, through the use of a TB screening protocol, individuals who receive services through the county alcohol and drug abuse authorities and screen positive for TB are referred to the county health departments for further evaluation and treatment. DAODAS also works with DHEC to provide various HIV early-intervention services for individuals in treatment, including HIV counseling, testing, referral services, and supportive services. In addition, DAODAS funds HIV early-intervention services.
