Certified Peer Support Specialist (Full- or Part-Time)

Job Responsibilities:
Works in the new COSSAP Program, a partnership with the Chester County Sheriff's Office that seeks to create opportunities and improve outcomes for persons with opioid use disorders.
Serves as a recovery mentor or coach for individuals with substance use disorders.
Advocates for services requested by patients.
Cultivates each patient's ability to make informed and independent choices, set goals, and gain information and support from the community.
Promotes and supports linkages for patients to the recovery community.
Assists patients with learning how to maintain stable housing and employment.
Provides support and encouragement to patients and/or their family members and identifies mechanisms to increase their engagement.
Teaches effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.
Develops recovery plans to support patients as they transition out of treatment or between levels of care.
Promotes self-care and recovery maintenance.
Provides outreach and screens patients for entry into medication-assisted treatment services, as appropriate.
Networks with various individuals, agencies, and businesses to initiate and maintain referrals.
Maintains electronic health records in compliance with all governing, regulatory, and contractual authorities.
Participates in training to maintain skills, knowledge, and certification.

Required Qualifications:
South Carolina certification as a Peer Support Specialist or actively in process to achieve certification.
Must have minimum of two years' sustained recovery from a substance use disorder.

Preferred Qualifications:

Salary: $15 per hour (starting)
